The annual leadership conference is designed to provide meaningful engagement, practical strategies and networking opportunities for members. Sessions will leverage University of Maryland faculty, leaders in the field of education, improvement, leadership and network members to serve as  presenters and keynotes.

Purpose of the Conference

The CEii Summer Leadership Conference is designed to serve as a landmark gathering of education leaders from across the Mid-Atlantic region. This three-day event will spark bold conversations, deepen collaborative learning, and build collective capacity for educational innovation, continuous improvement, and equity-centered leadership.

Participants will engage in keynotes, fireside chats, concurrent sessions, problem-solving consultancies, and community-building experiences with peers, researchers, and national thought leaders.

Themes and Learning Objectives

Equity Strand

This conference strand centers on advancing equity through intentional policy, practice and leadership. Sessions will examine how organizations can identify and dismantle systemic barriers, leverage data to address opportunity gaps, and design inclusive structures that support historically marginalized communities. Participants will engage in research-informed strategies, practical tools, and case examples that translate equity commitments into sustained, measurable impact across diverse contexts.

Leadership Strand

This conference strand focuses on leadership that drives coherence, improvement and meaningful change. Sessions will explore how leaders at all levels can set clear direction, build organizational capacity, and cultivate cultures of trust and accountability. Participants will examine research-based frameworks and practical approaches for leading through complexity, aligning strategy with execution, and sustaining improvement in dynamic environments.

Innovation Strand

This conference strand centers on continuous improvement as a core driver of organizational effectiveness and results. Sessions will examine how teams use data, cycles of inquiry, and evidence-based practices to diagnose challenges, test solutions, and refine strategies over time. Participants will explore practical methods for building improvement capability, aligning efforts across systems, and sustaining gains in complex and changing contexts.

Improvement Strand

This conference strand centers on continuous improvement as a core driver of organizational effectiveness and results. Sessions will examine how teams use data, cycles of inquiry, and evidence-based practices to diagnose challenges, test solutions, and refine strategies over time. Participants will explore practical methods for building improvement capability, aligning efforts across systems, and sustaining gains in complex and changing contexts.
