It has been a busy summer, here in the lower level of Benjamin. In between the construction, abatement and renovations, we completed a computer lab upgrade (hardware, software, and pay4print), launched multiple new center and lab web sites, continued research into centralized, remote device and computer management options, conducted monthly brown-bag and individual faculty trainings, and hired additional student workers to replace those leaving us this fall. That doesnt include multiple data security initiatives, many completed behind the scenes, as part of a larger campus-wide focus in that area. Below are some of the highlights which might be of interest to College of Education faculty, staff, and students.
Our computer lab had its fall semester refresh, including an upgrade to the computers themselves and installation of faculty-requested titles. We also upgraded pay4print, which now uses a release station, providing additional security for student print jobs. The computer lab (room 0230 Benjamin) is available for faculty reservation during our open hours and as an open student lab when not reserved. Computer lab specs can be found at: http://education.umd.edu/ETS/computerLab/
The ETS Technology Desk (0234 Benjamin) handles first-tier support for our technology classrooms, the check-out and return of equipment, and reservations for equipment and the computer lab. Its fall semester hours, beginning August 31, can be found at:
Workshops and Brown-bags
ETS continues to offer monthly brown-bags on topics of interest and training by request for items such as Canvas (the campus LMS) and SMARTBoards. A complete list of upcoming offerings can be found at: http://www.education.umd.edu/ETS/workshops/
