ETS Brownbag: The Magic of Tracking Student Progress Using Canvas Modules

Online via Zoom

ETS August 2026 Brown bag Discussion/Demonstration
The Magic of Tracking Student Progress Using Canvas Modules

Are your students staying on track with course readings and early prep, or are some silently slipping through the cracks before major deadlines?

Whether you built your course from scratch or inherited pre-existing Canvas modules, discover how to leverage modules to easily monitor individual and class-wide engagement.

Learn strategies to identify struggling students early.

What We Will Discuss

  • Sequential Pathways
Setup prerequisites and requirement rules so students build foundational skills before unlocking advanced coursework.
  • Progress Monitoring
Utilize Canvas tracking tools (like View Progress) to see exactly where students get stuck across a module at a single glance.
  • Early Warning Systems & Automated Nudges
Combine Module Requirements with the "Message Students Who..." feature to automatically flag and encourage students who haven't completed prep readings or activities.

This workshop/demonstration is open to COE faculty, staff, and graduate assistants.
