Human Development Honors Program
The Human Development Honors Program is a two-year program sequence beginning in the fall of the junior year. An overall aim of the program is to create a Community of Scholars Model whereby students who work closely with the faculty will gain greater depth and knowledge about research and scholarship in human development.
The Human Development Honors Program provides unique opportunities to collaborate with a faculty member (along with a Postdoctoral Fellow and/or Graduate Student) on a topic of interest for the Honors thesis project. Research experience in a faculty member's lab group is highly encouraged prior to entering the program. An Honors seminar offered in the fall of the Junior year focuses on open science, community science, and global science. The Senior year provides mentorship for the project, which is conducted with supervision from the Thesis Advisor and their team. Participation in the Human Development Honors program will prepare students for graduate study as well as provide in-depth experiences pertinent to academic careers in the areas of child development, developmental psychology, and educational psychology as well as positions in government, education, policy, public health, and related areas.
