The Teaching and Learning, Policy and Leadership - Teacher Education and Professional Development Specialization, Master of Arts (M.A.) program is designed to cultivate educators who can meet the demands of today’s classrooms, schools, and communities.
Our interdisciplinary graduate program equips you with the knowledge, skills, and insights needed to become an effective instructional leader in your classroom, school or district. By joining our program, you will examine research on various approaches to teacher preparation, explore connections among teacher development, student learning, teacher leadership, curriculum, and school improvement, and analyze the broader socio-political context in which teacher education and professional development programs are embedded. You will also explore the pedagogies used in different subject areas and in preparing teachers for multilingual learners or special needs students, with a particular focus on culturally relevant teaching at different school levels.
