Graduate Programs in Special Education and School Counseling
The EdTerps Learning Academy’s Special Education and School Counseling Programs support the professional learning needs of general education teachers in inclusive classrooms and school and community professionals in special education support services. Through flexible and part-time learning options that feature in-person, online, and blended instruction, our Special Education Programs support learners to build and use evidence-based practices to expand their skills and knowledge.
These programs are designed to advance the knowledge and careers of working professionals interested in better serving the needs of students in inclusive classrooms and students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (through both online and in-person options). Programming in this portfolio culminate in graduate degrees from the University of Maryland College of Education, including Ed.D., M.Ed. and Graduate Certificates.

This program is for general education teachers in inclusive classrooms and education professionals who wish to increase their skills while continuing to work. This 15-credit (5-course) program prepares graduates to meet the needs of students with disabilities in inclusive classroom settings. Coursework equips participants to better serve all students in their schools. Learning happens online during 15-months of part-time enrollment. | ||

MASTER OF EDUCATION IN SPECIAL EDUCATION - AUTISM | ||

This program is for educators and professionals in special education or related community services who desire to better serve the increasing number of students with autism spectrum, disorder and those students with related developmental delays and disabilities. This 30-credit (10-course) program prepares students to build and use evidence-based practices to support positive behavior and classroom management and to improve collaborative work with families and colleagues in special education. Coursework includes evidence-based methods and practices to increase academic behavior, and self-determination in students with autism spectrum disorder and students with related developmental delays and disabilities. This program is available fully online or in-person! Learning happens online or in-person (at the Universities at Shady Grove) with synchronous instruction in the evening hours (after 5pm) over three years of part-time enrollment. Program study is designed for working professionals. | ||
