Dr. Emily Neer is a Lecturer in the Department of Human Development and Quantitative Methodology at the University of Maryland, College Park.

She holds dual B.S. degrees in Psychology and Human Development from Virginia Tech, and earned both her M.S. and Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). At UCLA, she researched children’s cognitive development, with a particular focus on how environmental factors—such as media and parent-child interactions—support learning.

Dr. Neer is deeply committed to undergraduate education and she enjoys designing engaging, student-centered curriculum that fosters active learning in the classroom.
