Higher Education, Student Affairs, and International Education Policy (HESI Preview 2024)

Assistantship Information

The Assistantship portion of our Preview Program is designed to assist admitted Higher Education, Student Affairs, and International Education Policy students in finding an assistantship for the upcoming academic year.  During the Preview program, you will have the opportunity to interview for the various assistantships that are listed on this website. Emails will be sent with a personalized list employers you were matched with. This email will include the scheduling links of each employer for you to individually schedule your interviews. You will not need to contact the employers independently.

To help us plan, we ask that you submit your Intent to Attend Form and résumé by Friday, February 9, 2024 at 11:59 pm Eastern Time. (résumés should be emailed to the UMD Preview Committee as a PDF with the subject title as follows: LastName_Resume).  Cover letters are not necessary.  Your Assistantship Preference Form is due February 9, 2024 at 11:59 pm Eastern Time.  Please review the assistantship positions listed so that you can rank your preferences.  Please note positions may be added based on employer availability. Your Preview interview schedule will be finalized and emailed to you no later than Friday, February 23, 2024.

  • You may be asked to provide employers with professional references at the time of your interview.
  • Please remember to send each employer a thank you email or note following your interview.
  • Please check out some tips published by the University Career Center for information about updating your résumé and preparing for interviews.
  • Test run your camera and microphone prior to your interview.
  • Should you have any technological issues, please reach out to your interview sites as soon as possible and send an email to umdpreview@umd.edu.
  • Think about what kind of "receipts" you can bring.  For example, previous students have participated in interviews for assistantships that emphasized skills in graphic design. Knowing this, potential candidates brought examples of their previous projects and employers enjoyed having an additional piece of information to remember them by.

This document reflects all assistantships received as of January 26th; additional assistantships will continue to be added as received. The following positions are 9, 9.5, and/or 12-month commitments.  Each position's job description will clearly denote the position's duration. Check back periodically for new jobs.

This folder contains all graduate assistantship job descriptions.
