Our student data collected from 2024 Maryland Regional Challenge participants indicates:
- We are predominantly serving minoritized students (88.2%).
2. We are predominantly serving female students (55.9%).
- The majority of participants agreed or strongly agreed that KidWind increased their interest in science (67.6%).
4. The majority of participants agreed or strongly agreed that they’ve learned more about how science is used in the energy workforce through KidWind (85.3%).
The majority of participants agreed or strongly agreed that Kidwind increased their understanding of how we create energy from renewable resources (77.6%).
The majority of participants agreed or strongly agreed that KidWind increased their interest in wind and/or renewable energy (70.6%).
The majority of participants agreed or strongly agreed that KidWind increased their confidence in presenting their ideas to others (77.7%).
The majority of participants agreed or strongly agreed that they made new friends through KidWind (81.6%).
The majority of participants agreed or strongly agreed that they have a sense of belonging to the Maryland Regional KidWind community (74.2%).
The majority of participants agreed or strongly agreed that KidWind helped them learn more about how individuals and communities can make choices that are more environmentally friendly (71.3%).
The majority of participants agreed or strongly agreed that they would like to learn more about jobs in renewable energy (61.5%).
52.2% of participants agree or strongly agree that they are interested in having a career in renewable energy.
58.2% of participants said they would definitely participate in future KidWind Challenges.
