ETS Hosts a DIT Event: Second Multi-factor Authentication Q&A and Registration Assistance

Date: Thursday, 11/30/2017
Time: 9:00 am until 12:00 pm
Location: 0306 Benjamin Building
RSVP: Drop-in event, no registration needed

ETS is pleased to host the Division of IT (DIT) for a second event to help answer your questions around multi-factor authentication (MFA).  They will also be available to assist with registration of your token, phone number, or MFA/Duo app on a personal or work device.  You must bring your device and/or token with you, as well as your University ID, if you wish to have assistance with registration.  No registration is needed for this drop-in event, and you only need to stay as long as is necessary for your needs.

MFA is being implemented for a broad audience of COE faculty, instructors, and some staff, to aid in data security.  The initiative to move to MFA for many apps behind CAS login for a select set of users was announced in October, and the deadline for those users to have a method of additional authentication (in addition to your username and password) is December 4, 2017.  You should have received multiple emails directly from DIT if you will be impacted, but if you aren’t sure, and especially if you are a faculty member here in the COE who deals with student data (including grades), you can confirm if you are required to complete this step by contacting the DIT helpdesk at 301-405-1500.

For those who cannot make it for the COE event, there is also a DIT event in McKeldin on 12/1/17.  Both should cover similar material.

Finally, if you cannot make it to either event, you can always get help directly from DIT for this issue at their helpdesk, either in-person or by phone:
