Assistant Professor Sarah McGrew developed a groundbreaking civics course designed to equip students with tools to identify online misinformation. As part of a new pilot program in DC Public Schools, students learn strategies such as lateral reading—cross-referencing multiple sources—to evaluate credibility and detect bias.
“It’s critical that schools teach [students] how to deal with the flood of information that’s coming at them when they consult the internet,” McGrew explained.
