The mission of the CECEI is to conduct high-quality research on early childhood education and early intervention programs in order to inform State and Federal policy, to translate research into scaleable education programs and best practices, to build capacity in schools and communities, and to promote family engagement in their children's education.

In an article in Edutopia, “Inspiring Curiosity and Critical Thinking in Pre-K,” Judi Anderson, Associate Director of Children Discovering Their World, and Dr. Christy Tirrell-Corbin, Executive Director of CECEI, discuss their experiences of project-based learning (PBL) in action with the Children Discovering Their World curricula series, as well as strategies to deepen student understanding, provide support, and challenge students while teaching within a PBL framework.
