Past Projects

Maryland State Department of Education Root Cause Analysis Project

The Maryland Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) Consolidated State Plan requires Title I schools that have been identified by the state for comprehensive support and improvement to engage in a root cause analysis process. The Center developed facilitation tools and protocols, trainings, and processes to facilitate an evidence-based analysis of the root causes of poor performance in 36 identified schools across three school districts. The work in each school was documented along with recommendations to support school improvement planning.

iLEAD and the Improvement Science Collaborative

The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching launched the Improvement Leadership Education and Development (iLEAD) network in 2017 to further the capacities of school districts and institutions of higher eduction to lead improvements within their organizations and in partnership with one another. Our partnership with Prince George's County Public Schools, called the Improvement Science Collaborative, is one of 11 national partnerships in the iLEAD network and it includes integrating Improvement Science into the College of Education's EdD doctoral cohort program.
