Nandi Carson is a fourth-year Doctoral Student in Education Policy and Leadership at the University of Maryland, College Park, with a strong background in data and policy analysis, non-profit management, and education policy research. 

Nandi has worked on and led research projects in a range of topics including educational interventions for minoritized students, the connection between political ideology and carceral ideology in education policy development, and community schooling and behavioral health support for students in the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future legislation. Her research focuses on discipline disparities and restorative practices as a way forward to promote equitable learning opportunities for students of color. 

She has had internships with the Montgomery County Board of Education, the Title 1 Office in Baltimore County Public Schools, a Research Assistant position with the McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University and she currently works at WestEd, a research agency, as a Research Assistant Intern

Nandi graduated from Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology. She is also a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc and served as the Education Development Chair during her time at Spelman College. She has a passion for education equity!
