Conference Support
The MRC will support conference travel (or conference registration only, in the case of virtual conferences) for MRC faculty and doctoral students for AERA, AAAL and TESOL in 2022 at the early-bird member rate. All first year doctoral students are eligible for AERA, AAAL or TESOL travel support whether they are listed on the conference programs or not; other members of the ALLE/MRC community must be listed on the program. Faculty and students who are listed on the program are required to seek support from the TLPL department up to the maximum amount permitted before requesting support from MRC. MRC will consider supporting the cost of registration at alternative domestic or international conferences in lieu of AERA, AAAL or TESOL upon request, whether they are held virtually or in-person. Conferences must be relevant to the field of Applied Linguistics and Language Education, or a faculty member’s ongoing research program, and must cater to recognized scholars in the field. MRC conference support is limited to $600 for domestic conferences, or $1,100 for international conference, and may be combined with other funding sources. MRC funds to support conference travel and/or registration are limited. Awards may be reduced at the discretion of the MRC to provide equitable distribution of budgeted funds. Requests for travel support should be submitted at least 4 weeks prior to intended travel via the MRC Travel Funds Request form.
Note: You must make a travel request in SAP Concur regardless of whether your travel will be supported by the department, MRC, or a combination of sources. Please create the request in SAP Concur before completing this form. When you make your SAP Concur request, enter all of your anticipated expenses up to the maximum you expect to receive from combining (the balance of) your TLPL funding for the present academic year with your requested amount from MRC.
