The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate (P.B.C.) in Dual Language Education (DLE) will prepare educators to teach and lead DLE programs in PK-12 schools, including bilingual and language immersion programs. As DLE programs continue to expand both nationally and locally, there is a growing need for educators to obtain additional credentials that address specific instructional needs of DLE educators.
DLE teachers are often certified in specific content areas, such as elementary education or world languages. These credentials, however, do not fully address the specialized skills and instruction required for effective teaching in DLE settings, particularly in areas like language acquisition and multilingualism research.
This program allows students to take one 3-credit course at a time, each semester, with no prerequisites and no cumulative course structure. Students typically begin the program in the fall semester and progress through the courses consecutively.
