SSSR Thirty-Third Annual Conference

Ana and Yuanke

Dr. Ana Taboada Barber and Ph.D. student Yuanke Pan both presented at the 2026 Annual Conference of the Society for the Scientific Study of Reading (SSSR) in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Dr. Taboada Barber delivered an oral presentation titled “Revisiting reader typologies: The role of executive functions in bilingual reading development.” Yuanke also presented a poster, co-authored with Dr. Taboada Barber and Marieh Arnett, titled “Reading fluency as a bridge: Linking reading engagement and comprehension in bilingual learners.” These presentations reflect the READ lab’s continued focus on understanding the cognitive and motivational processes that support reading comprehension among bilingual learners.

 

Yuanke

At the 2026 Annual Conference of the Society for the Scientific Study of Reading (SSSR) in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. PhD student Yuanke Pan presented a poster, co-authored with Dr. Taboada Barber and Ms. Marieh Arnett, titled “Reading fluency as a bridge: Linking reading engagement and comprehension in bilingual learners.”

 

Oyster Adams

In May of 2026, Sonia Aguilar and Alexandra Lopez Rodriguez joined the Oyster Adams family for a poetry evening at their Festival de Poesía. Ever since 2021, the READ lab and Oyster Adams School have maintained a strong, cooperative friendship.
